AI visibility is how often, and how accurately, your brand is surfaced, described and cited when people get answers from AI systems like ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google’s AI Overviews, Gemini and Bing Copilot. It is the AI-era counterpart to ranking on Google: instead of competing for a click, you compete to be one of the few sources an AI names in its answer.
It matters because search is increasingly answered without a visit to any website. A behavioral study by the Pew Research Center of nearly 69,000 real Google searches found that when an AI Overview appears, users click a traditional result only about 8% of the time, compared with 15% when there is no AI summary. By early 2026, roughly 68% of US Google searches ended without a click to any website, according to SparkToro and Similarweb. Being inside the answer still pays: Seer Interactive found that brands cited within AI Overviews earn about 35% more organic clicks than comparable brands that are not cited on the same results page.
SEO (Search Engine Optimization) gets your pages to rank in traditional search results; GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) gets your brand cited inside AI-generated answers. SEO optimizes for rankings and clicks on Google and Bing, while GEO optimizes for inclusion and citation in answers produced by ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude and Google’s AI Overviews.
The term Generative Engine Optimization was introduced by Aggarwal and colleagues in a 2024 study published at the ACM SIGKDD conference. The two disciplines share one foundation (clear, trustworthy and well-structured content) but target different surfaces and are measured differently, which is why a modern strategy runs both together. GEO is also called AEO (answer engine optimization); the tactics overlap heavily.
You get cited by making your content the clearest, most credible and most quotable source an AI can draw on. The largest academic study on the question, the Princeton GEO paper, tested content changes across roughly 10,000 queries and found a consistent set of levers. The highest-impact moves are:
- Answer the actual question directly, with the key takeaway in the first sentence so a model can lift it cleanly.
- Back claims with evidence: concrete statistics, data and citations to credible sources. In the Princeton study, adding statistics and citing reliable sources were among the strongest tactics, with statistics alone lifting a source’s share of the AI answer by around 40%.
- Keep your brand facts consistent and machine-readable: structured data, a clear about or entity page and identical company details everywhere.
- Build off-site credibility: reputable mentions, reviews and profiles that corroborate what your own site says.
- Write clearly. The same research found that improving the fluency and readability of a page produced a significant visibility gain, even with no new information added.
Yes, SEO is still the foundation. AI answer engines draw heavily on the same content and authority signals that power classic search. Google’s AI Overviews and AI Mode are built directly on top of its search index, so strong organic content often decides whether you are even eligible to be pulled into an AI answer.
What has changed is that ranking no longer captures the full value: Ahrefs’ analysis of 300,000 keywords found that the presence of an AI Overview was associated with a roughly 58% lower click-through rate for the top-ranking page as of late 2025. The practical conclusion: keep investing in SEO and add GEO on top, so you are found in search and cited in answers.
You measure AI visibility by tracking a fixed set of real, buyer-style questions across the major AI systems and recording whether your brand is mentioned, how accurately it is described and which sources are cited. Because AI answers frequently produce no click, the core metric is presence and accuracy rather than traffic alone.
A reliable method is to define the prompts that matter to your buyers, capture a baseline of how ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google’s AI Overviews answer them today, improve the underlying content and evidence, and then re-test on a regular schedule to see whether your share of the answer is rising. No one can guarantee placement in an AI answer, but the signals that earn citations can be built and monitored deliberately.
Syntharis Group is an international consulting firm that helps companies and universities get found in Google and AI answers and win the trust of the people they want to reach. The work covers four areas: AI visibility (SEO and GEO), marketing management, employer branding and HR consulting, and education consulting for universities and colleges.
The company works with business clients in Europe, North America and Asia. It was founded by its CEO, PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg, who has advised more than 750 companies on marketing and employer branding. He is the author of two books on these topics: The AI Visibility SEO & GEO Playbook and the recruiting guide Praxisleitfaden Mitarbeitergewinnung. All four areas deal with the same problem: how an organization becomes visible to the customers, applicants or students it wants to reach.
Syntharis Group offers four consulting services that can be booked separately or combined:
- AI Visibility / SEO & GEO: rankings in Google and Bing plus citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews.
- Marketing Management: strategy, brand positioning, campaigns, lead generation and performance measurement.
- Human Resources: employer branding, talent attraction, HR strategy, employee experience and retention.
- Education Consulting: positioning, communication and student recruitment for universities and higher-education institutions.
Many clients start with one area and expand later. A company that wants more applicants, for example, usually benefits from employer branding and from a careers page that is easy to find in search and AI answers.
Syntharis Group works with three kinds of clients: small and medium-sized businesses, larger companies, and universities and other education providers. Smaller businesses usually need to build trust and reach quickly, larger companies want to recruit and keep qualified staff and win new customers, and universities, colleges and private education providers want more students, including international applicants.
The firm works with business clients across Europe, North America and Asia, and with clients in the Middle East as well. Projects are scoped to the size of the organization, so a start-up does not pay for the structure a multinational needs.
Dubai sits between European, Asian and Middle Eastern markets, which makes it a practical base for companies that sell or hire across borders. Time zones overlap with Europe for most of the working day and with Asia in the morning.
For clients in the UAE, a Dubai consultancy understands local conditions such as a highly international workforce, bilingual English and Arabic search behavior, and the expectations of employers under national workforce programs.
For clients in Europe and the US, Syntharis combines this international perspective with first-hand knowledge of the German-speaking market, where its founder built his career.
AI visibility describes whether and how accurately your business appears when people ask AI systems such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini or Google AI Overviews for advice. If a buyer asks for the best provider in your field and your company is not named, you lose the opportunity before the buyer ever sees your website.
The practical impact is measurable. A Pew Research Center analysis found that users clicked a traditional search result in 8% of visits when a Google AI summary appeared, compared with 15% without one.
Syntharis Group helps businesses adapt to this shift by strengthening the content, structured data and external evidence that AI systems use when they decide which companies to mention. You can learn more on our AI Visibility / SEO & GEO page.
Every project follows four steps:
- Discover – we analyze your goals, your market, your competitors and your current visibility.
- Strategise – we turn the findings into a plan with clear priorities and KPIs.
- Implement – we carry out the measures together with your team, from content and campaigns to employer-brand messaging.
- Grow – we measure results against the baseline, adjust what does not work and scale what does.
The first step is a free consultation. It helps both sides judge whether there is a good fit before any budget is committed.
Three things set Syntharis Group apart from a traditional marketing agency. First, Syntharis connects areas that are usually handled by separate providers: search and AI visibility, marketing, employer branding and student recruitment. That matters because customers, applicants and students all research you in the same places.
Second, the advice draws on our own published research. Our CEO, PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg, has written the methods down in two books: The AI Visibility SEO & GEO Playbook for search and AI visibility, and the Praxisleitfaden Mitarbeitergewinnung for recruiting. His empirical study of more than 60 employer seals, with a randomized experiment involving 1,093 participants, adds original data that few consultancies have.
Third, the firm works with defined KPIs and a before-and-after measurement, so you can see what changed instead of receiving a report full of activity.
No. No serious provider can promise a top ranking or a mention in ChatGPT, because Google, Bing and AI systems decide for themselves which pages and sources they show, and they change their systems regularly. Treat any guarantee of a specific ranking or a ChatGPT citation as a warning sign.
What Syntharis can do is build the signals that make visibility far more likely: a technically clean website, content that answers real questions, consistent company data, structured data and credible third-party mentions. We document the starting point and measure progress over time, so the results are transparent.
Yes. The AI Visibility Playbook by PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg can be downloaded free of charge as a PDF on the Syntharis Group website. The book explains how SEO and Generative Engine Optimization work together and describes practical frameworks for becoming visible in Google and in AI answers.
The methods in the book are the same ones Syntharis Group uses in client projects. Many readers use it to assess their own situation before they decide whether they need outside support.
You can book a free consultation through the contact form on the website or by email at hello@syntharis.group. Please tell us briefly what you want to achieve, for example more qualified leads, more applicants or more student enrollments.
The team usually replies within one business day. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Gulf Standard Time (GST). Consultations can take place online, so your location does not matter.
The right service depends on the problem you want to solve first. If you are not found online or not mentioned in AI answers, start with AI Visibility / SEO & GEO. If you have visibility but too few customers or unclear positioning, Marketing Management is the better starting point. If you struggle to fill positions or keep good people, Human Resources and employer branding address that directly. Universities and education providers that want more applicants should look at Education Consulting.
If you are unsure, the free consultation is designed for exactly this question. We look at your situation and recommend where the first investment will have the most effect.
Yes, and combining services often works better than booking them one by one. The services draw on the same foundation: a clear message, credible evidence and visibility in the places where people research you. A company that invests in employer branding, for example, gets more out of it when its careers pages are optimized for search and AI answers. A university that wants international students needs both a strong academic positioning and digital reach.
When services are combined, you work with one team and one set of KPIs instead of coordinating several agencies.
The cost depends on the scope, the number of markets and the level of hands-on implementation you need. A focused audit with recommendations costs considerably less than an ongoing program that includes content creation, campaigns and monthly reporting.
Syntharis Group uses pricing that also reflects company size, so small businesses and start-ups receive a solution that fits their budget. After the free consultation you receive a written proposal with clearly defined deliverables, timelines and fees, so there are no open-ended costs.
The first measurable effects usually appear within a few months, but the timeline differs by service. Technical SEO fixes and clearer messaging can have an effect within weeks. Stronger rankings, AI citations and a recognized employer brand take longer, typically several months, because search engines, AI systems and people need time to pick up new signals.
At the start of every project we record a baseline and agree on KPIs, so you can see month by month whether the work is paying off.
Syntharis Group does both: it develops the strategy and can also carry out the implementation, for example content creation, on-page optimization, campaign management, employer-brand messaging or student-recruitment communication.
Some clients prefer to implement with their own team and use Syntharis for strategy, quality control and measurement. Others hand over most of the execution. The split is agreed at the start and written into the proposal, so responsibilities are clear.
Success is measured against KPIs that we define with you before the work begins. Typical examples are:
- Organic traffic and rankings for priority topics
- Mentions and citations in AI answers
- Qualified leads and conversion rates
- The number and quality of applications, employee turnover or student enrollments
We capture the starting values, report changes at fixed intervals and explain what caused them. If a measure does not deliver, we change it rather than continuing for the sake of the plan.
Yes. Syntharis Group is based in Dubai and works with clients across the UAE, Europe and the United States. Most of the work can be done remotely, with workshops held online or on site when useful.
For international projects we take local differences into account:
- Search behavior and language
- Legal requirements for advertising and data protection
- Cultural expectations of customers and applicants
Marketing Management is the broader discipline. It covers strategy, brand positioning, target groups, campaigns across channels, lead generation and budget control.
AI Visibility / SEO & GEO focuses on one specific outcome: being found in search engines and cited in AI-generated answers.
In practice the two work together. Marketing Management defines what you want to be known for and for whom. SEO and GEO make sure that this message is discoverable and quotable in Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and similar systems.
Yes. Young and smaller companies often have to prove themselves in the market before customers and applicants trust them. Syntharis helps them build that trust with a clear positioning, a credible online presence and, where it fits, visibility in the media.
The services are scalable, and pricing takes company size into account. For start-ups, a compact audit and a prioritized action plan are often the best first step.
We reply within one business day and suggest a date for a free initial consultation. In that conversation we clarify your goals, your current situation and what a successful outcome would look like.
If there is a good fit, you receive a written proposal with scope, timeline and fees. Work begins with the Discover phase, in which we analyze your market and visibility and set the baseline for measuring results.
A GEO audit shows how AI systems currently describe your business and why. It usually includes:
- A prompt set of real buyer questions, tested in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews, with a record of who is mentioned and which sources are cited.
- A technical check of crawlability, indexing, page speed, robots.txt rules for AI crawlers and structured data.
- An entity review: are your company name, services, location and people described consistently across your website, profiles and directories?
- A content review of whether your key pages answer questions directly and back claims with evidence.
- A comparison with the competitors that AI systems currently prefer.
We diagnose along the Citation Failure Pipeline described by our CEO, PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg, in The AI Visibility SEO & GEO Playbook: access, relevance, evidence, trust, entity, extraction and freshness. Knowing where a page fails prevents rewriting content that was never the problem. The result is a prioritized action plan and a baseline against which later progress is measured.
We optimize for the platforms your buyers actually use:
- ChatGPT (including its search function)
- Google AI Overviews and AI Mode
- Perplexity
- Gemini
- Microsoft Copilot
- Claude
The relevant platforms differ by market and target group, so we check where your audience asks questions before setting priorities.
Because Google AI Overviews and AI Mode build on the Google index, and Copilot draws heavily on Bing, classic SEO remains part of every GEO project.
There is no fixed timeline:
- Within weeks: systems with live web search, such as Perplexity or ChatGPT search, can pick up improved content once it is crawled and indexed.
- Months: knowledge that is part of a model’s training data changes only when the model is updated.
For planning purposes, most businesses should expect the first measurable changes in their AI mentions after a few months of consistent work, with stronger effects over six to twelve months.
We re-test the same prompt set regularly so you can see the trend.
AI systems can only use content they can reach, read and understand. These technical factors matter most:
- Crawler access: robots.txt should not block the crawlers of the systems you want to appear in, such as OAI-SearchBot and GPTBot (OpenAI), PerplexityBot or Bingbot.
- Rendering: key content should be available in the HTML, not only after complex JavaScript runs.
- Structured data: Organization, Service, Person, Article and FAQPage schema help machines understand who you are and what a page is about.
- Clean indexing: canonical tags, sitemaps, no duplicate pages and no thin or empty pages.
- Speed and mobile usability, which remain important for Google.
Technical fixes alone rarely create citations, but technical errors can prevent them entirely. In The AI Visibility SEO & GEO Playbook this is the base of the Visibility Stack: access, crawlability and structure come before entity clarity, evidence, authority and recommendation. If a lower layer is broken, work on the higher layers becomes unstable.
Not for Google’s search results: Google stopped showing FAQ rich results altogether in May 2026, after limiting them to government and health websites in 2023.
The FAQPage markup is still valid Schema.org, and according to Google it does no harm. We keep it because it describes a page’s questions and answers in machine-readable form for other search engines and tools that read Schema.org. What matters far more is the visible content: a short, direct answer in the first sentence, followed by evidence and detail.
The cost of GEO consulting depends on the number of topics, markets and languages and on how much of the implementation we take over. A one-off GEO audit with an action plan is the smallest package. Ongoing programs that include content creation, digital PR and monthly AI-answer monitoring cost more.
After a free consultation, you receive a fixed proposal with defined deliverables. Be cautious with offers that promise guaranteed positions in ChatGPT or Google, because no provider controls those systems.
Often, yes, although not by editing the AI directly. Wrong answers usually come from outdated or contradictory sources: an old address in a directory, an outdated press article, a competitor’s comparison page or inconsistent data on your own website.
We follow the nine-step response for AI reputation management described in The AI Visibility SEO & GEO Playbook. Its core is to document the wrong answer, identify the sources behind it, correct or update them where possible, publish clear and authoritative information on your own site and strengthen it with credible third-party references. Systems with live search reflect corrections sooner, while model knowledge changes with the next update.
Independent mentions and media coverage matter a great deal for GEO, often more than backlinks alone. AI systems look for confirmation from independent sources before they recommend a company. Mentions in respected media, industry publications, association websites, review platforms and professional profiles all serve as that confirmation.
Unlike classic link building, GEO values the mention itself, even without a link, as long as it appears in a trustworthy context and describes your company accurately. Ahrefs found that branded web mentions correlate with AI Overview visibility far more strongly than raw backlinks. That is why The AI Visibility SEO & GEO Playbook recommends an Evidence Calendar (one new credibility asset per month, such as a case study, a survey, an expert quote or a third-party mention), and why digital PR and consistent profiles are part of our GEO work.
GEO pays off wherever buyers research before they decide and ask comparison questions such as “Which provider is best for…?”. This applies especially to professional and B2B services, consulting, software, education, healthcare providers, real estate, hospitality and financial services.
It is also highly relevant for employers and universities, because applicants and students increasingly ask AI tools which companies are good places to work or which programs suit them, which is why AI visibility is part of our employer branding and education consulting. A business that sells mainly through personal networks may benefit less in the short term.
Marketing management means planning, coordinating and controlling all marketing activities so they serve one strategy and measurable business goals. An agency is usually hired to execute specific tasks such as ads, social media or a website. Marketing management sits one level above: it decides what should be done, in which order, with which budget and how success is measured.
Syntharis Group takes on this steering role. We define positioning and target groups, set priorities, coordinate internal teams and external providers, and report results against agreed KPIs. You get one accountable partner instead of scattered activities.
The service covers the full cycle from analysis to optimization:
- Market, competitor and target-group analysis
- Brand positioning and core messaging
- Marketing strategy and annual or quarterly plans with budget allocation
- Digital marketing: SEO, paid media, social media and email
- Content marketing that builds trust and supports sales
- Lead generation and sales support
- Analytics, reporting and continuous optimization
The exact scope is tailored to your goals and to what your team already does well.
Yes. Many small and medium-sized companies do not need a full-time head of marketing but still need senior strategic leadership. In that case, Syntharis Group takes on the role of an external marketing lead: we set the strategy, manage the budget, brief and control agencies or freelancers, and report to management.
This model gives you experienced leadership without the cost of a senior hire and can be scaled up or down as the business changes.
We start with a structured analysis of your business, your market, your competitors and the behavior of your target groups. We also review existing data such as website analytics, campaign results and sales figures.
From this we derive a positioning that sets you apart, define priority target groups and channels, and set measurable goals. The result is a roadmap with concrete measures, responsibilities, budget and KPIs. It is reviewed regularly and adjusted when the data shows that something works better or worse than expected.
There is no universal figure. The right budget depends on your industry, your growth targets, the competition in your market and how established your brand already is. A company entering a new market typically needs to invest more than one defending an existing position.
Rather than starting with a percentage, we recommend working backward from your goals: how many leads or customers do you need, what does it cost to win one, and which channels deliver at an acceptable cost? This approach makes the budget defensible and easy to control.
We choose KPIs that are connected to revenue, not just activity. Depending on the goal, these include qualified leads, cost per lead, conversion rates, customer acquisition cost, pipeline value, organic traffic, rankings, AI citations and brand awareness in the target group.
Likes, impressions and reach are useful as supporting signals but are not treated as success on their own. Each report shows the KPI, the change against the baseline and the reason behind it.
Clients usually see first measurable improvements in engagement, visibility and lead quality within the first few months. Paid campaigns can produce leads within weeks. Brand positioning, SEO and content marketing build up more slowly but have a longer-lasting effect.
Because we set a baseline at the start and report at fixed intervals, you can see early whether the direction is right, well before the full effect is reached.
Yes. B2B buying decisions involve several people and usually a long research phase, much of which now happens in search engines and AI tools before any contact with a supplier.
We build lead generation around this: content that answers the questions of buyers at each stage, landing pages with clear offers, targeted LinkedIn and search campaigns, email nurturing and close alignment with your sales team so that leads are qualified and followed up quickly.
We complement your team rather than replacing it. At the start, we clarify who is responsible for what: typically Syntharis takes on strategy, planning, measurement and specialist topics such as SEO, GEO and positioning, while your team contributes product knowledge and handles day-to-day communication.
Regular meetings, shared plans and transparent reporting keep everyone aligned. Many teams also value the knowledge transfer, because they build skills they keep after the project.
Yes. Repositioning is useful when a company enters new markets, changes its offer, wants to reach a new target group or is perceived differently from how it sees itself.
We begin by examining how customers, prospects and employees currently perceive the brand. Based on this, we sharpen the positioning and messaging, update the most important touchpoints and make sure the new message appears consistently across the website, sales materials, social media and search results. Consistency is especially important now, because AI systems summarize what they find about a brand across many sources.
Syntharis Group helps organizations attract, develop and retain the right people. The services include:
- Employer branding: analysis of your attractiveness as an employer, development of an employer value proposition and its communication
- Talent attraction: recruiting strategies, careers pages, job ads and candidate experience
- HR strategy aligned with business goals
- Employee experience and engagement, including employee surveys
- Culture and retention programs to reduce turnover
Every project starts with an analysis, followed by measures with defined KPIs and ongoing monitoring.
Employer branding is how an organization is perceived as a place to work and the deliberate effort to shape that perception. It covers what the company offers employees, how it communicates this and whether the everyday experience matches the promise.
It matters because qualified candidates compare employers before they apply, often through career sites, review platforms, social media and increasingly AI tools. A clear and credible employer brand leads to more suitable applications, faster hiring and lower turnover, because people join with realistic expectations.
An employer value proposition is the core answer to the question: why should a qualified person work for you rather than a competitor? It summarizes what employees receive, such as pay and benefits, development opportunities, culture, purpose, flexibility and stability, and what the company expects in return.
A good EVP is based on facts, not slogans. We develop it from interviews and surveys with current employees, feedback from applicants, an analysis of competitors in the labor market and the goals of management. The EVP then guides job ads, careers pages, social media and interviews.
They can, if they are credible. Research by PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg, founder of Syntharis Group, examined more than 60 employer seals and tested their effect in a randomized experiment with 1,093 participants. A credible seal increased the stated likelihood of applying by around 16 percentage points.
The key word is credible. Applicants increasingly distinguish between seals that are based on transparent, verifiable criteria and those that can simply be bought. Syntharis advises employers on which certifications are worth pursuing and how to communicate them without overstating what they prove.
Start by finding out where you lose them. Common reasons are that the right people never see your vacancies, that your job ads and careers page do not explain why someone should choose you, or that the application process is slow and complicated.
Effective measures include a sharp employer value proposition, job ads written for the candidate rather than the organization chart, a careers page that ranks in search and answers questions in AI tools, a short application process with fast feedback, and employees who act as credible ambassadors. We prioritize these measures based on your data.
We begin with the causes. Exit interviews, employee surveys and HR data usually show where and why people leave, for example in the first months, in certain teams or at particular career stages.
Based on this, we develop a retention plan. Typical elements include better onboarding, development and career paths, leadership training, fair and transparent pay structures, recognition and regular feedback. We measure turnover and engagement before and after, so the effect of each measure is visible.
Yes. Smaller companies compete for the same talent as large employers but with less budget and fewer HR resources. Their advantage is often speed, closeness to management and visible impact, which is exactly what a good employer brand can highlight.
Our solutions are scalable, and pricing reflects company size. For small businesses we often start with a compact employer-brand check, an EVP and a practical recruiting toolkit that the team can use without additional staff.
We use measurable HR indicators, recorded before the project and tracked afterwards. The most common are the number and quality of applications per vacancy, time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, offer acceptance rate, early turnover in the first year, employee engagement and ratings on employer review platforms.
We also check how your company appears when candidates ask AI tools about you as an employer, because this has become a new first impression.
Yes. The UAE labor market is highly international, which means employers compete for talent from many countries and need messages that work across cultures. Mobility is high, so retention is as important as attraction.
Employers in the UAE also have to consider national workforce policies such as Emiratisation targets, which shape both recruiting plans and how an employer presents itself to UAE nationals. We help companies align their employer brand, careers communication and retention measures with these conditions.
Some improvements work quickly. A clearer job ad or a faster application process can increase the number of suitable applications within weeks. Building a recognized employer brand that candidates actively seek out takes longer, typically six to eighteen months, depending on your starting point and investment.
The most lasting effect comes when the external message and the internal reality match. That is why employer branding at Syntharis always includes the employee experience, not just communication.
Syntharis Group helps universities, colleges and other higher-education institutions attract the right students. The work covers four areas:
- Analysis of target groups, academic programs, competitors and markets.
- Positioning and messaging for the institution and individual programs.
- Marketing and student-recruitment strategies, nationally and internationally.
- Optimization of communication channels across the entire student journey, from the first search to enrollment.
We also build and run dedicated landing pages for programs, such as phdr-studium.de and doctoral-degree.com, that reach prospective students where they search.
By being visible and convincing in the markets it targets, and by making the path from interest to enrollment as easy as possible. That starts with choosing the right countries based on demand, competition and admission requirements.
Effective measures include program pages that answer the real questions of international applicants about fees, admission, visas, recognition of the degree and career prospects, content in the relevant languages, visibility in search engines and AI tools, targeted digital campaigns, trusted recruitment partners and fast, personal responses to inquiries. We help institutions build this into a structured recruitment plan with measurable goals.
Most research online long before they contact an institution. Prospective students compare programs on university websites, study portals, rankings, social media and review sites, and they increasingly ask AI tools such as ChatGPT which programs suit their goals and budget.
Several factors decide: reputation and accreditation, recognition of the degree in their home country, total cost, flexibility of study, career outcomes and the experience of current students. A university that answers these questions clearly and consistently across channels has a clear advantage.
Because many prospective students now start their search with a question to an AI tool rather than a list of search results. If they ask which universities offer a flexible doctoral program or an English-taught MBA, the AI names only a few institutions.
To be among them, an institution needs well-structured program pages, clear facts on fees, duration, admission and accreditation, consistent information across portals and credible third-party mentions. Syntharis applies its SEO and GEO methods specifically to higher-education marketing.
Yes. Our consulting suits universities, colleges, private institutes, business schools and professional training providers that want structured growth and more visibility in their market.
The principles are the same: clear positioning, a convincing offer for a defined target group and communication that reaches people where they make their decision. The measures are adapted to the size of the institution and its budget.
Before we recommend any strategy, we take time to understand your mission, your academic profile, your culture and the students you want to reach. We speak with leadership, faculty and admissions staff and, where possible, with current students and alumni.
Recruitment messages must be accurate and responsible. We do not promise outcomes an institution cannot deliver, because misleading communication damages reputation and leads to dropouts. The goal is to attract students who fit the program and succeed in it.
Yes. We work with institutions to define a clear identity, core messages and communication themes that appeal to prospective students, parents, employers and academic partners.
A strong higher-education brand is specific. It explains what makes the institution and its programs different, for example in teaching format, research focus, industry links or international orientation, and it proves these claims with facts, rankings, accreditations and graduate outcomes.
Both, depending on the market. In some countries, recruitment agents and education counselors play a major role in student decisions. In others, most students find their program online.
We help institutions choose the right mix and set quality standards for partners, including transparent information, ethical recruitment practices and clear agreements. Digital channels such as search, AI visibility, program landing pages and targeted campaigns strengthen every partner model, because students verify what agents tell them online.
Syntharis Group supports recruitment initiatives in Europe, the Middle East, including the UAE and the wider GCC, and other international markets, depending on the institution’s programs and admission requirements.
From Dubai, we are well placed for students from the Middle East, South Asia and Africa who look for study options abroad or for flexible programs they can combine with work. Our founder’s background in the German-speaking education market also supports institutions that recruit in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
We track the full funnel, not just clicks. Typical KPIs are inquiries, completed applications, admission offers, confirmed enrollments, cost per enrolled student, conversion rates between stages and the share of students from target markets.
Where possible, we also look at retention and completion, because recruiting students who stay and graduate is more valuable than filling places in the first semester. Results are reported against the baseline set at the start of the project.
Syntharis Group was founded by PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg, MBA, who also leads the company as CEO. He has more than 20 years of experience in marketing and sales, holds an MBA in Marketing and a doctorate (PhDr.), and has published empirical research on employer branding and employer seals.
He is also the author of The AI Visibility Playbook, which forms the methodological basis for the company’s SEO and GEO work. More details are on the Management page.
Syntharis Group is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The company operates as SYNTHARIS GROUP – FZCO from the IFZA Business Park (DDP 65843-001) in Dubai Silicon Oasis, a business and technology hub for international companies.
From Dubai, the team and its partners serve clients in the UAE, Europe and the United States. Most projects can be run remotely, with on-site workshops when useful.
The name refers to synthesis: the purposeful combination of strategy, people and communication. It reflects the idea that growth rarely depends on one discipline alone.
A company that wants more customers, better employees or more students needs a clear strategy, a credible message and visibility in the places where people research. Syntharis brings these areas together instead of treating them as separate projects.
Syntharis Group specializes in four areas:
- AI visibility through SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO)
- Marketing management, from positioning to campaigns and measurement
- Human resources and employer branding, including talent attraction and retention
- Education consulting for universities and higher-education institutions
The founder also has long-standing experience in quality seals and employer certification, which informs the firm’s advice on building credibility.
Structure, transparency and a focus on results. In practice this means that every project starts with an honest analysis, that goals are measurable, that clients know what they pay for and that progress is reported openly, including when something does not work as planned.
The firm also values evidence over claims. Recommendations are based on data, research and testing, and Syntharis avoids promises it cannot keep, such as guaranteed rankings or guaranteed AI mentions.
Two bodies of work shape the methods. The first is PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg’s empirical study of employer seals, which analyzed more than 60 seals and included a randomized experiment with 1,093 participants. It is indexed on Google Scholar and ResearchGate and forms the basis of the firm’s advice on employer branding and certification.
The second is The AI Visibility Playbook, which brings together current studies on search and AI answers, such as the Princeton research on Generative Engine Optimization, and turns them into practical frameworks.
Syntharis Group builds on its founder’s more than 20 years of experience in marketing, sales and consulting, including advisory work for hundreds of companies. Under the Syntharis Group name, the company brings this experience together from its base in Dubai and has added AI visibility as a core service in response to the rise of AI search.
The combination of long practical experience and current research is what clients typically cite as the reason they chose the firm.
Syntharis Group is a small, highly specialized team in Dubai that works with a network of experienced partners in Europe, Asia and the United States. This setup keeps communication direct: clients work with senior consultants rather than being handed over to junior staff.
For larger projects, the core team brings in specialists, for example for content production, design, web development or local market expertise.
News about Syntharis Group and its research has been published on more than 450 news sites and business publications worldwide, including outlets such as Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch, Business Insider, Benzinga and Digital Journal.
The founder’s research on employer seals has been cited in the trade press. Media visibility is also part of the service the firm offers clients, because independent coverage builds trust with customers, applicants and AI systems alike.
You can reach Syntharis Group by email at hello@syntharis.group or through the contact form on the website. The team usually responds within one business day, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Gulf Standard Time.
The first consultation is free and helps clarify whether and how Syntharis can support your goals.
PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg, MBA, is the founder and CEO of Syntharis Group in Dubai. He is a marketing and employer-branding expert with more than 20 years of experience in marketing and sales, a researcher on employer seals and the author of The AI Visibility Playbook.
His work connects three fields: how companies become visible in search engines and AI answers, how employers become attractive to qualified applicants, and how quality seals and certifications create credible trust.
He holds a doctorate (PhDr., Doctor of Philosophy), an MBA in Marketing from Middlesex University, a master’s degree in economics and a qualification as a Betriebswirt (business economist).
This academic background supports the research-based approach of Syntharis Group, particularly in employer branding and in the evaluation of seals and certifications.
The study analyzed more than 60 employer seals and tested their effect on applicants in a randomized experiment with 1,093 participants. The central result: a credible employer seal increased the stated likelihood of applying by around 16 percentage points.
The research also showed that credibility depends on the criteria behind a seal. Transparent and verifiable assessment methods matter more than the design of the logo. The study has been cited in the trade press and is indexed on Google Scholar and ResearchGate.
His books include The AI Visibility Playbook, a guide to SEO, Generative Engine Optimization and visibility in AI search, and the German-language Praxisleitfaden Mitarbeitergewinnung für kleine und mittelständische Unternehmen (2026), a practical guide to recruiting for small and medium-sized companies.
Both books are available as free downloads on the Syntharis Group website. He also publishes articles on marketing, employer branding and AI visibility.
His main areas are marketing strategy, employer branding and recruiting, AI visibility through SEO and GEO, quality seals and employer certification, and education consulting for universities.
He is particularly sought after where these fields overlap, for example when an employer wants to be visible to applicants in AI tools, or when a university wants to position its programs internationally.
Yes. He founded BERLIN International Studies and has supported doctoral programs, including the facilitation of PhDr. programs for working professionals. This experience with academic programs, admissions and the needs of international students informs Syntharis Group’s education consulting.
It also explains why the firm runs its own student-recruitment landing pages, such as phdr-studium.de and doctoral-degree.com.
Requests for talks, workshops, podcasts and media interviews on AI visibility, employer branding, employer seals and marketing strategy are welcome. Please send a short description of the event, audience and preferred date to hello@syntharis.group.
Talks can be given in English or German, in person or online.
He shares his work on LinkedIn, X and Instagram, and his research is listed on ResearchGate and Google Scholar. Articles and updates are also published in the Insights section of the Syntharis Group website.

Syntharis Group works with small and medium-sized businesses, medium-sized and large companies, and universities and other education providers. Clients come from different industries, including professional services, technology, industry, education and service businesses.
What they have in common is a need to become more visible and more trusted, whether toward customers, applicants or students.
Smaller companies often have to prove themselves before customers and applicants trust them. Syntharis helps them build a positive reputation, strengthen trust through visibility in the media and in search results, develop a strong brand and define an employer brand that attracts skilled workers.
Because budgets are limited, we focus on the measures with the highest effect first and scale the work as the company grows.
Established companies often face the challenge of finding and retaining the right employees while continuing to win new customers. Syntharis supports them in building and managing their reputation, strengthening their brand, measuring customer and employee satisfaction and turning survey results into concrete actions.
For larger organizations, we also help align marketing, HR and communication across departments and locations, so that the company presents one consistent picture to the market.
Results depend on the starting point and the goals. Typical outcomes are more organic traffic and better rankings, more mentions in AI answers, more qualified leads, more and better applications, lower employee turnover or higher student enrollments.
We do not promise figures before we know your situation. Instead, we set a baseline and agreed KPIs at the start of each project and report changes transparently, so you can judge the results yourself.
Yes. Satisfaction surveys are a reliable way to find out what customers and employees value and where problems arise. Syntharis designs the surveys, analyzes the results and, most importantly, develops concrete actions from them.
The results are also useful for communication. Genuine satisfaction data can support marketing and employer branding, and it can form the basis for independent certification.
Yes, on request. Many clients prefer confidentiality, especially regarding HR and recruiting topics, so we share references and anonymized case studies in the context of a specific inquiry.
In the free consultation we can explain how we approached comparable situations and what results were achieved.
Confidentially. Client data, internal figures and strategic plans are used only for the agreed project. On request, we sign a non-disclosure agreement before the project starts.
Personal data, for example from employee surveys, is processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws such as the UAE Personal Data Protection Law and, for European clients, the GDPR. Survey results are reported in aggregated form so that individual responses cannot be identified.
No fixed minimum. Projects range from a compact audit with recommendations to long-term programs across several markets. Pricing also takes company size into account.
For smaller budgets, we usually recommend starting with an analysis and a prioritized action plan. This gives you a clear direction and can be implemented by your team or expanded later with our support.
Many clients continue after the first project because visibility, reputation and employer branding need ongoing care. Long-term partnerships are usually organized as a monthly or quarterly retainer with fixed deliverables, regular reporting and review meetings.
Priorities are reviewed at each stage, so the work adapts to new goals, market changes and results rather than following a fixed plan for its own sake.
Syntharis Group is active in three main regions: the United Arab Emirates and the wider Middle East from its headquarters in Dubai, Europe with a focus on German-speaking countries, and the United States. The team works with local partners in these regions.
Education-consulting projects can also cover other international markets, depending on where an institution wants to recruit students.
Yes. For companies from Europe or the US that want to do business in the UAE, Syntharis helps with market research, positioning, local visibility and building trust with UAE customers and partners.
Typical topics are adapting the offer and messaging to local expectations, English and Arabic online presence, visibility in local search and AI answers, media presence, recruiting for a new team and building a network of partners. Company formation itself is handled by specialized setup providers; we focus on the market side.
Yes. The US market is large but highly competitive, and messages that work in Europe often need to be adapted in tone, proof points and positioning.
Syntharis helps European companies with market and competitor analysis, a US-specific value proposition, English content that meets American buyer expectations, visibility in US search results and AI answers, and credibility signals such as media coverage and recognized certifications. Our partners in the US support local execution.
Five things: a clear strategy with defined goals, solid research on demand, competitors and regulations, a positioning that is relevant to the new market, reliable local partners and the willingness to adapt the offer to local needs and culture.
Many market entries fail not because of the product but because the company is unknown and not trusted. That is why visibility and credibility are part of every market-entry project we support.
We start from what stays the same, namely the core value of your offer, and then adapt everything that affects perception: language and tone, examples, proof points, channels, visual style and the way trust is built.
Search behavior also differs. People in different markets use different terms, languages and platforms, and AI systems may name different companies depending on the language of the question. Local research and native-language content are therefore essential.
Yes. Projects are mainly carried out in English and German. For content in Arabic and other languages, we work with native-speaking partners, because AI search and SEO in local languages require more than translation.
Good localization includes local search terms, cultural references and consistent company data in every language version.
Syntharis Group coordinates the strategy and remains the central point of contact. Local partners contribute specific market knowledge, language skills and on-the-ground execution, for example in media relations, events or recruitment.
Partners are selected based on the project and work to shared goals and quality standards, so clients get local expertise without having to manage several providers themselves.
When companies hire across borders, they need an employer brand that works for candidates from different countries. We help define what makes the company attractive internationally, adapt job ads and careers pages to different target groups and make the employer visible where international candidates search.
We also consider practical questions that matter to international applicants, such as relocation, visas, working language and integration, because clear answers to these questions increase applications.
Syntharis Group is a small, highly motivated team in Dubai. The culture is based on openness, respect and the conviction that success is built together. Ideas count regardless of position, and team members take on real responsibility early.
The work is international and varied: in one week you may deal with a German employer, a university recruiting abroad and a company that wants to be visible in AI search. For people who enjoy learning and want their work to have a visible effect, this is a good environment.

Yes, both books by PhDr. Oliver Scharfenberg, CEO of Syntharis Group, can be downloaded free of charge on the Syntharis Group website. The AI Visibility SEO & GEO Playbook (English) explains how to be found, trusted and cited by Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity and other AI search engines, with frameworks such as the Visibility Stack, the 5C Test and a 90-day GEO roadmap. The Praxisleitfaden Mitarbeitergewinnung (German, 2026) shows small and medium-sized companies how to win more suitable applicants, from the candidate journey to employer seals and onboarding.
The methods in the books are the same ones Syntharis Group uses in client projects. Many readers use them to assess their own situation before deciding whether they need outside support.
If your customers search in different languages, yes. AI systems answer in the language of the question and often draw on sources in that language, so a question asked in German, Spanish or Japanese can produce a different set of recommended companies than the same question in English.
For international B2B companies we recommend starting with the priority markets and the pages that matter most for revenue, using native-language content rather than literal translation, and making sure company facts are identical in every language version. In some Asian markets, local search engines and platforms such as Baidu in China or Naver in South Korea also have to be considered.
